At Hernia Clinic Hampshire, we have worked with patients to design this bespoke rehabilitation exercise programme for patients of all fitness levels— from young sporty 20-year-olds to less mobile, 96-year-olds.
Our dedication to patient-focused care has driven our development of this programme. We want to work with you to achieve excellent results.
All you need to start is a matt or a large towel and some space. Once you have purchased a subscription you will be sent the rehab hernia exercise videos, some guidance and as a bonus one pdf to get you started without using an electronic device. You can start the exercises as soon as you like.
These hernia surgery exercises help with re-strengthening your core muscles and improving comfort in your abdominal muscles and groin through physical exercise both before and after hernia surgery.
They also help to influence how the scar remodels – in particular, lines of tension caused by stretching and exercise.
While surgery is the only way to fix a hernia, these are also helpful exercises for hernias and strengthening your abdominal muscles even before having surgery.

With this programme, you gain access to our 5 videos, each around 20-30 minutes long, with an instructor guiding you through the various exercises.
No not really, but access to the following can help:
• An armless chair or edge of the bed to sit on for video 1• A mat such as a yoga mat for videos 2-5 is helpful• An exercise band (Or use an old tie or 1m length of rope)• A cushion (if not using a mat)• An exercise block is (very) optional for a few exercises
Before SurgeryThese exercises can be helpful for strengthening your core and managing symptoms, even if you haven’t had hernia surgery.
After Hernia SurgeryThese exercises will continue to strengthen your repair and aid your recovery for months after surgery, especially for the first few months.The comfort of your scar can be influenced for 12 months post-surgery.If you feel any discomfort or tugging develop months post your hernia repair, use the post hernia surgery exercises for 2-3 months. This should settle any discomfort.
